12 thought provoking questions

when you have 3 kids and a dog and a house and a hubby and holidays, it is a challenge to answer thought provoking questions...it is difficult to actually force your brain to tune out all the background noise and truly finish a thought...so here goes...i will try my best to get through them...

1. if you could have one superpower, what would it be?

without a doubt, and i do not need to put any thought into this one, it would be the power to clone myself...and it would not just be X3 it would be x10...or even x100...i would definitely need to keep one for myself too. just the other day, i was saying to my sister how i wished i would have a time to just spend with hadley...take her on a special day and just go bridal shopping...trying on all the dresses just for fun...like we had all the time in the world and no one needing us...wouldn't that be fun!!!

2. if you could rule any country, which would you choose?

i personally think i would be a better vice-president...all the pressure a presidency would stress me out...i am much better at being behind the scenes and organizing. i would have to choose a country that did not have a lot of controversy as i cannot handle anyone being upset...so that brings us to a very limited few. i would probably pick switzerland. anyone want to come visit me and go skiing?

3. if you could live a movie in real life, which would you choose?

the first one that came to mind was "top gun", but in actuality that would end up stressing me out after the end of the movie when they go on to live their real life and maverick has to leave for war and i would have to stay home alone only with his leather jacket and motorcycle parked in the garage, so i would probably pick "father of the bride" or "knocked up."

4. which professional sport would you choose if you could play on one?

not that it is quite a sport, but i would pick being a dancer on broadway starring in cats!! that would have been cool...but to stick to the question....hmmmm...ping pong!!

5. if you were stuck on a desert island and only could have one food forever, what would it be?

well if this were a drink i would say diet coke (maybe even reg. coke if i would never see anyone again and was not worried about calories), but a food...hmmmm...i guess i would say toast since if i chose french fries i would get sick of those.

6. if you could spend the day with one famous person, who would you choose to be with?

justin timberlake...easy!!

7. if you had to give up one sense, which would you choose?

i would be forced to pick smell, however there are so many smells i would miss...my kids when i kiss them goodnight as they sleep, todd when he comes in from work, jasmine i smell in the air when we go for walks, beautiful perfume, but then again living with 3 males it might not be a bad choice.

8. if you could pick one historical event to witness, which would you choose?

as cheesy and typical as it sounds, i would probably choose when neil armstrong walked on the moon...if i could be there with him!!!!

9. if you could be the author of any book, which would you choose?

probably the adventures of tom sawyer! since it was based on mark twain's life. however, i would also not mind being annie sullivan and having helen keller written about me and my teachings.

10. if you could choose one place to live other than where you live now, where would you choose? i think that it would be nice to raise my kids in i land of peace and harmony....wherever that exists is where i would choose! north carolina would be my closest choice!

11. if you had to be an animal, what would you choose? probably a dog in a nice home and well loved.

12. if you could take a class for a week to learn anything, which skill would you pick to enhance? anything medical....probably either being a midwife in labor and delivery or surgery in an ER.
okay write me your answers and i will post them....come on laura!!

day at disney!

it is not very often you have a friend that you can call and ask to drop everything and jump in the car and go for a disney trip on an hour notice!! i am so lucky to have a friend like that in deb! all it took was a quick call and soon after we had rooms reserved and bags packed. here is our crazy group on the grounds of fort wilderness lodge where we looked for bunnies and went on a hidden mickey hunt in the hotel lobby. they just love being together.

grace was so excited to see the magic kingdom! her favorite ride was small world of course.

wyatt and mackenzie made a deal: wyatt would try space mountain and in return kenzie would brave thunder mountain railroad. they were too adorable...holding hands and cheering each other on. i could hear kenze in space mountain yelling to wyatt " are you okay?" they are such sweet friends!! owen joined in on thunder mountain for his first time---he loved it and can't wait to go back to try space mountain too!!!
pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!!

tom sawyer's island is always a favorite with this group! they said they could have stayed there all day! the caves and passage ways are too fun and they just ran and laughed and made memories!

8 years later! kenzie and wyatt have been friends almost their whole lives! they are too sweet!

this whole idea was sparked by owen. the other day in the car he said "you know mommy who we have not seen in awhile? kenzie...we need to see her." that was easy!!

hero day.

i have always thought in school when they ask to choose a "hero" is such an obscure concept. i do believe that there are people in this world that do have true iconic "heroes" such as a sportstar looking up to a past sports figure or a politician respecting a president of our history. but a hero to me is someone that is an everyday figure that "rescues" someone...either figuratively or in reality. wyatt is assigned to do a biographical report on his hero--so limited by the non-fiction rack of biographies at barnes and noble, he had to "choose" a hero. he was happy to do a report on neil armstrong and cannot wait to wear my spacecamp jumpsuit from when i was a child. so it has left me wondering who is my hero? i truly think i have not met me hero yet---or at least if i have, the heroic act needed to be given the name of my hero has not occured as of yet. however, my family is my life and they lead me and drive me each day. that is all the "hero" i need!!!!!

if i could choose 4 people to meet and report on, i would chose as most interesting and inspiring:

al gore

annie sullivan (helen keller's teacher)

priscilla mullins (my pilgrim relative)
my grandma bess

who would yours be?

sunday morning tradition

the first weekend after we brought wyatt home as an infant, we took our first outing with heather and chris to breakfast. todd and i vowed it would be our sunday morning ritual with our kids. (almost) every sunday morning since then, we have enjoyed our breakfasts with our children. the restaurant has changed several times over the years, but since grace was born we have been going to the same downtown restaurant. we sit in the same booth, have the same waitress, and order the same thing every week. there is a family that goes as well that we always see. the parents come in and then soon after, their adult sons join them. they always smile at us and tell us every week how fast they grow up. we hope to continue the tradition forever...meeting our kids and their families for sunday morning breakfast...same booth and same group!
